Michigan and Michigan State are coming off statement wins. With March Madness around the corner, it's time for Sports in the Mitten hosts Adam Biggers and John Gustin to look at where the Wolverines and Spartans stand in the latest mock bracket by ESPN's Joe Lunardi.
Michigan State is thin up front and won't have Eron Harris. But Cassius Winston, Matt McQuaid and Josh Langford are capable of providing reinforcements. With an "on" Nick Ward, the Spartans could be dangerous -- with "could" being the operative word.
And, of course, the Spartans -- who just beat Wisconsin -- will need every bit of freshman Miles Bridges during tournament play.
After pounding Purdue, the Wolverines seem to have everything going in the right direction. Xavier Simpson has come along during recent weeks, but the rapid ascent of Moritz Wagner has highlighted great leadership by senior Derrick Walton Jr. -- that's what has to continue pushing Michigan into March, says Adam, who likes UM's chances to win a few this spring.
Ferris State men's basketball head-coach Andy Bronkema joins us on the Think-Schlink Guest Line coming in after just being named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and notching 24-4 regular season record. Coach Bronkema discusses how he's been able to bring the FSU Bulldogs to such a high level of play round out his third year with the program, sophomore center Zach Hankins (first So. to win GLIAC Player of the Year) and previews tomorrow's match-up against Hillsdale College in the opening round of the 2017 GLIAC Basketball Tournament.
